Why The Guest is shutting down?

According to their official website, “due to various reasons, low overall usage, and some new App Store limitations”. It’s not clear what the exact reason, but it seems like the company that operates the app, The Knot, prefers to invest their focus on their other (useful) products.

When The Guest will officially shut down?

According to their website - as of Oct 12, 2022, you won't be able to create new events because The Guest app will be retiring. You can still download photos from past events through June 2024.

Why should I use Kululu on my wedding?

Tons of photos and videos are taken by your guests at your wedding - won’t it be a waste if you never see it? With Kululu you can get every candid photo/video taken by your guests and have it nicely packed in a beautiful digital album automatically. It's like having an authentic view of your wedding, crafted by your guests!

And.. Well, it's fun! People like to take part of the event and see themselves on the big screen (using the Live Photo Wall). We get a lot of feedback that it "levels-up" the good vibes and leave a mark on the guests.

Why is it better than Google Photos/Dropbox/other apps?

Google Photos/Dropbox (or any other similar app) can be used to collect your wedding photos, no doubt that. However, the experience of uploading on these apps are not very straightforward. Lots of screens and buttons (for a relatively simple task), sometimes login/app download is required, etc. Overall, it's not quite a good experience for the average person.

We built Kululu exactly for that reason - to simplify the whole experience of collecting wedding photos & videos from guests. On top of that, we've added some cool features like the Live Photo Wall to make things even more fun and engaging. Simple, elegant yet personal - these our leading values.

What do I need to make Kululu work on my wedding?

We made things extremely effortless, so setting up Kululu from start-to-finish shouldn't take more than a few minutes.

Kululu's digital album is a simple web link you can share with your guests to collect photos they have taken. Easily share it like any other link (email, WhatsApp, SMS etc.). You can also print the QR code and put it on the tables on your wedding day like many couples do.

The Live Photo Wall is also just a website link that can be opened on any device with internet/WiFi. Connect it to TVs, projectors or where ever you like, so you and your guests can comfortably see it during the event.

Once it's all set up, all left to do is scanning the QR presented (with your phone camera or favorite QR Scanner app) to upload new photos/videos or view the existing ones.

Does Kululu offer the same functionality of The Guest?

Yes! Similar to The Guest, Kululu provides a digital album for guests to easily upload photos and videos. However, unlike The Guest, your guests don’t need to download an app. All they have to do is scan the QR code provided for your event or enter the album link directly on their web browser. This makes it much easier for your guests to participate and, as a result, it enables you to gather more photos and videos.

In addition, we offer you a Live Photo Wall that functions as a real-time slideshow. This feature updates instantly with every photo and video shared by your guests. You can easily connect it to any large-screen device and stream all the photos taken by your guests during the event in real-time.

Is Kululu free?

We offer a free version of our service, but it comes with limited functionality. For those who want more from their wedding planning experience, we have paid plans available.

When The Knot purchased the Guest Photo Sharing app, it became free to use. However, the downside of free apps is that they often use your personal data to generate revenue. This means that your actions are tracked and your data may be sold for marketing purposes.

To respect your privacy and avoid invasive tactics, we choose to charge reasonable and affordable fees for our paid plans. This allows us to maintain our service without relying on your personal data for revenue. You can trust that we will never sell your information.

Do I or my guests need to download an app?

Nope, no apps needed. Unlike other wedding photo sharing apps, Kululu doesn't require this kind of effort from your guests.

All they need to do is scanning the QR code and follow the steps to upload their photos/videos. You can also send a link to your Digital album beforehand so people can enter it directly (SMS, email, WhatsApp).

It's so simple to use it even grandma can do it. No Joke.

Can I print the QR code for the wedding pictures?

Yes! Lots of couples do that. Print the QR and put on tables or on a sign in the entrance ("Scan Me!" kind of signs). Guests can then scan the QR code to upload photos to your digital album with ease.

Do I have to use the Live Photo Wall?

Nope, it's totally optional but super recommended. The Photo Wall encourages your guests to upload more photos/videos they have taken and also adds a new dimension of vibe and fun to your wedding. You can also ask your photographer (main photographer, magnets etc.) to upload their photos so everyone can view it during the event. Guests are blown away by this!
